Vuicy.com - Requirements To Become A Model
You want to be the next Cindy Crawford or the next Tyra Banks? Then, you have to be ready to meet the requirements to become a model
sought after by many advertisers and modelling agencies. You have to be physically, mentally, and psychologically prepared to handle the rigors of a modelling career.
Remember that, as in other career, a flourishing career in modelling is not achieved overnight. It is not all glitz and glamor that makes a successful modelling career.
It takes hard work, perseverance, commitment, and a competitive spirit in order to build a career in modelling. You have to be willing to comply with the physical requirements of being a model.
You have to have the tenacity to yield yourself to the varying demands of advertisers and modelling agencies.
While particular modelling assignments would have their own particular set of requirements, there are certain general requirements to become a model in any trade.
Models are required to be of a certain built, height, and look. Models are widely regarded as near perfect. But, perfection is really subjective.
It is up to the modelling professionals to determine whether or not the aspiring model has what it takes to be a model. The face is almost always the first thing that
is considered in screening a model – unless the screening is for a body-part model. Generally, a model’s face should be symmetrical and with a healthy glow.
The face, eyes, mouth, nose, and ears should be of the right shape and proportion in relation to each other. The look should be pleasant and expressive.
A professionally cut and styled healthy mane is also the perfect complement to the perfectly proportioned face.
A model should also have a good face and body frame that is not too bony nor too muscular. A 5’6” frame with the perfect vital statistics of 34-24-35 would be just right for a female model.
Males, on the other hand, need to be at least 5’9” in height with vital statistics of 39-32-37. Average weight requirements are at about 110 pounds and 170 pounds for females and males respectively.
Clear and healthy skin and hair, good muscle tone, good teeth, and clear and expressive eyes are generally required of anyone who aspires to be a good model whether for print, for commercials,
or for the runway. Anyone who is armed with these characteristics and who is able to showcase a variety of expressions as the need may be would be well on his way to modelling stardom.
These are just the basic requirements to become a model. There are variations to these requirements depending on the particular advertising or modelling needs of the companies commissioning the models.
Tall and reedy models with flat chests would be required by those looking for models for the runway, while voluptuous models would augur well for those looking for
models for a swimsuit spread. Choosing which modelling projects you will be fit for would be the job of your modelling agency.
When you fit the basic requirements to a tee and are willing and able to comply with the demands of a modelling career, you will sure to get modelling assignments fit for your specific built and look.
Do not be afraid to take rejection. You will surely not be fit for each and every modelling job out there.
The most important thing is that you get those that are best for your particular look.
